- Admission: Free
- Location: Historic St. Mary's City
- Time:
10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Maryland's birthplace, St. Mary's County is the perfect site to commemorate the state's anniversary. Speeches, a ceremony, and pageantry will be held in historic St. Mary's City, the first capital of Maryland.
The annual HSMC Maryland Day ceremony, which will take place under the Margaret Brent Pavilion (parking is available in the State House parking lot, 47418 Old State House Road) at 1 p.m., will be the event's main event. St. Mary's College of Maryland President Tuajuanda C. Jordan, PhD, will be the keynote speaker this year. Tyler Bell and Jane Kostenko will receive the Cross Bottony award, the museum's highest honor, for their years of dedication to the organization. The Ceremony of the Flags, in which children from all over Maryland will display their county colors, will mark the end of the program.
Spend the day learning about the history of Maryland, including its origins and life in the 1600s.
