Fishing Report News Flash: The Big Stripers are Here

December 9, 2016  |  The big rockfish are in the Bay. Trollers found the sea run stripers off Point Lookout in the ships's channel beginning early this week.

The fish are a mix of the 30-inch domestic fish and the Fall migrators from the ocean that are measuring up to 50 inches and weigh 40 to 50 pounds. This run of fish broke out in earnest on Thursday when trollers using chartreuse and white tandem rigs caught big fish all day long.

The word about the big fish in the Triangle area got out quickly, and a flotilla of trolling boats has descended into the middle Bay area.

We have only until the 20th of December when the season ends in Maryland waters to enjoy these fish, so any day the wind is calm enough to get out is a day not to be wasted.
