North County Fair Itinerary

The Historic Charlotte Hall area offers a great intro to St. Mary’s County. Drop into the St. Mary’s County Welcome Center just off of Maryland Route 5 to pick up travel tips from friendly staff and enjoy the lovely grounds. Within walking distance of the Welcome Center is Ye Coole Springs, where students who once attended Maryland’s oldest military academy (now a state Veteran’s home), drew water for their daily needs, and Dent Chapel, one of the finest examples of Victorian church architecture in Maryland.

The Amish Farm Market (seasonal) is an easy walk along The Three Notch Trail which runs past the Welcome Center. The market features fresh produce and baked goods. Amish and Mennonite Communities are an important part of the area’s heritage and Maryland Route 236 offers scenic views of Amish farms as well as opportunities to stop at on-farm retail establishments including Clover Hill Dairy. There, you’ll find a variety of cheeses made on the premises.

Captain Leonard’s, Foxy Fish, and St Mary’s Landing offer classic roadhouse dining, while Bert’s has a 50’s vibe.
