On November 1, 1864, the State of Maryland’s third state constitution officially went into effect, thereby abolishing slavery within the state. In honor of this pivotal moment in history, and in collaboration with the Maryland Humanities One, Maryland One Book Program, the St. Mary’s County Museum Division is proud to host "Celebrating Maryland’s Emancipation Day: Stories, Art & History for All Ages!"
This family-friendly program will feature story time, scratch art and other educational activities that explore and honor the significance of this day. Together, we’ll reflect on Maryland’s journey toward freedom.
We look forward to spending part of this historic day with you! Event is FREE for all ages.
