Rebels & Redcoats: A Southern Maryland Revolutionary War Family Event @ Piney Point Lighthouse Museum

Commemorate the American War for Independence as it happened in St. Mary's County, home of the only Revolutionary War battle to occur in Maryland! Find exhibits and displays related to our local 18th century history, food trucks, educational and period programing, kids and family activities, reenactors, period encampment, military demonstrations and much more.

This event is part of the Southern Maryland Semiquincentennial, Maryland's 250th and America 250th celebrations! It commemorates Southern Maryland's contributions to our nation's founding. 

Activities: 

  • At Piney Point Lighthouse Museum:
    • Military drills in camp
    • Narrated boat tour ($5 per person, tickets required, only 30 max per cruise) at 10:30, 12:00, and 1:30. TICKETS: TBD
    • Story time with Leonardtown library
    • Musket and cannon firing demonstration from the beach
    • 18th century brewing and other demonstrations
    • Ship's Company Living History Unit
    • Kids activities and more
    • Distaff cooking in Military camps
    • Period vendors
    • Modern Exhibitors and Food trucks
