Native American Heritage Month with the Piscataway Nation—Stories, Tradition and Powwow-Style Dance

Join us for another exciting evening of cultural celebration with the Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers! Experience the vibrant traditions of American Indian dance, drum, and song, performed by Mark Tayac and the Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers. This pow wow-style event offers an educational and entertaining glimpse into the rich heritage of the Piscataway people, who were among the first Native Americans to encounter Captain John Smith in 1608 along the Potomac River.

Piscataway Nation dancers normally invite a small number (10) of audience members to come on stage and participate. If you plan on volunteering, please ensure that you have appropriate footwear on to avoid damaging the stage flooring.  Ideal shoes would be soft-soled non-scuff varieties, like sneakers/tennis shoes. No volunteers from the audience will be allowed on stage if their footwear will damage the stage surface.
