As a SMCTAP Ambassador, you will be trained to create a better visitor experience by trying it for yourself.

As a SMCTAP Ambassador, you will be trained to create a better visitor experience by trying it for yourself. Your involvement has the power to increase visitor spending, satisfaction, length of stay, and promote repeat visitation.  

To complete the program, a participant must participate in two familiarization, or FAM, tours and the classroom training. Your time during the tours will be paid for by your employer and ticket and logistics costs will be covered by Visit St. Mary’s, MD. In addition, participants will be given a passport to complete some activities on your own time. Once complete, participants will be considered a St. Mary’s County Tourism Ambassador/Anchor, with access to program perks and professional development opportunities.  

By participating you will receive:

  • Recognition by your current and future employers as an official St. Mary’s County Tourism Ambassador/Anchor  
  • Physical and virtual certification items, including a workplace pin LinkedIn badge
  • Free access to hands-on experiences around the county including museum tours, local cruises, food and beverage sampling and more  
  • Access to the SMCTAP alumni network, including a graduation package, ticket lotteries to signature events and volunteer opportunities

All that’s needed to apply is a complete application and letter of support from your manager (if applicable).
