Getting Here
St. Mary’s County is centrally located within the Mid-Atlantic Corridor and easy to get to.
Less than an hour south of Washington, D.C., there are easy connections from Interstate 95. Once here, touring about the entire peninsula is just a matter of following the loop made up of Route 5 and Route 235.
Driving Directions
From Annapolis: Follow Maryland Route 4 to Maryland Route 2/4 through Calvert County to Solomons. Cross the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge into St. Mary’s County.
From Baltimore: Follow I-97 South to Route 3 through Bowie to Route 301 South. Turn left onto Mattawoman Beantown Road. Follow Mattawoman Beantown Road to the intersection of Route 5. Turn left onto Route 5 South. Follow Route 5 into St. Mary’s County.
From Richmond: Follow Route 95 North to Route 207. Take Route 207 East to Route 301. Follow Route 301 across Potomac on the Harry Nice Bridge. Four miles into Maryland, turn right (south) onto Route 234. Take Route 234 to St. Mary’s County.
From Washington, D.C.: Follow I-495/I-95 North, cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge into Maryland. Take 1st exit, Indian Head Highway/Route. 210 South. Make a left on Route 228 toward Waldorf. Route 228 becomes Route 5 after crossing Route 301 in Waldorf. Follow Route 5 to St. Mary’s County.
