Yellow perch are running in all spawning creeks now.
Yellow perch are spawning in the shallow creeks. There must be a good bite going on judging by the number of cars parked along the roadway at Wayson's Corner in the upper Patuxent and at Allen's Fresh on the Potomac. An intrepid angler caught 33 fish at Mason's Springs this past week.
Micro jigs fished under a bobber with some Pro Cure Jell or a piece of night crawler will make a yellow perch hungry.
Big white perch caught Sunday at St. Mary's Lake
There are some huge stripers on the spawning run. They are taking cast lures from the beaches in the areas open to catch and release fishing in the Bay and Potomac. Check regulations on the DNR website to find where this fishing is available: Maryland Fishing Regulations
Eric caught a variety of fish at St. Mary's Lake on Monday using a variety of lures and techniques.
Crappie are biting at St. Mary's Lake.
Fresh water fishing is very good in St. Mary's Lake and other ponds and lakes. Pickerel, yellow and white perch, largemouth bass, and crappie are all excited about warmer weather after the bitter cold of Old Man Winter.
