St. Mary's County

Fishing Report

Local Fishing Report for the Chesapeake Bay, Patuxent, and Potomac Rivers.

The Fishing Report was created by local store owner, Ken Lamb from The Tackle Box.

The Tackle Box was started in 1960 by Howard and Lena Lamb who had arrived in St. Mary's County in 1958 as Navy personnel. The store began in a corner of a building on route 235 in Lexington Park and moved into its current location in 1974.

The Tackle Box is one of the oldest family run businesses in the county with 62 years and going strong. The merchandise in the store is tailored for local tastes in fishing, hunting and shooting and tries to keep up with trends in fish migration cycles and sportsmen's changing needs.

The business is now owned by Ken Lamb who began as a teenager working in the store. The day-to-day operations are run by general manager, Joe Tippet who has 20 years experience at the store. Ken is still active daily in publicity, paperwork, bait handling, and sales and has no plans of retiring.
